Lynda Tanner named president and CEO of Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care


Tanner served as chief operating officer for VNHC and joined the organization in 2008. She is a registered nurse and holds a master’s degree in nursing along with an extensive background in strategic and organizational planning, project management, and accreditation and regulatory experience.

Tanner’s more than 25 years of professional health-care experience also includes acting as a surveyor for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, where she was responsible for evaluating home health and hospice organizations around the country.

Some of the new CEO’s initiatives in 2010 include supporting the growth of services in the Santa Ynez and Lompoc valleys through the VNHC office in Solvang; developing health coaching and disease management models of care; overseeing the opening of the new 18-bed Serenity House; and continuing VNHC’s position as a leader in information technology.

CEO Eileen Bunning to Retire from Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care - Eileen Bunning, chief executive officer of Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, will retire from her position effective Dec. 31, said Steve Lew, chairman of the VNHC board. Under Bunning’s leadership for the past eight years, the organization achieved extraordinary accomplishments including purchase and construction of the new 18-bed Serenity House. read full article


VNHC Diversity Outreach Coordinator to Serve on State Council - Lauren McElroy Herrera, diversity outreach coordinator for Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, has been selected to serve on the California Council on Multicultural Health which assists in developing culturally competent policies and programs for California’s diverse racial and ethnic communities. read full article

- A new study released last week by AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving finds that 29% of the U.S. adult population—roughly 65.7 million people—cares for a sick or elderly parent, relative or child with special needs.
